Erik Higginbottom, DDS
I believe that exceptional orthodontic care has the amazing ability to change lives. As your orthodontist, I look forward to giving you the life-changing experience you deserve and the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.
Having grown up right here in Easton, I feel that being an orthodontist is a great way to give back to a community that has given me so much over the years. I feel honored whenever I have the opportunity to change the life of a patient through orthodontic care, and I look forward to keeping Easton smiling for many years to come.
Education and Continuing Education
After graduating from Easton High School, I attended Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), where I received a Bachelor of Arts in biology and graduated magna cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. I went on to attend the University of Maryland Dental School, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduated summa cum laude, and ranked number one in my class.
After finishing dental school, I chose to continue my pursuit of becoming an orthodontist. I attended the University of Maryland and received my certificate in orthodontics as well as a master’s degree in oral biology. During my orthodontic residency, I was trained in the orthodontic treatment of children, teenagers, and adults with conventional braces, Damon Smile®, and Invisalign®. In addition, I served on the Cleft Lip and Palate Teams at Johns Hopkins University and Kernan Hospital.
I believe in the benefits of continuing education as a way to stay up to date with current orthodontic products and treatment techniques in order to provide the best experience for our patients. I enjoy going to various courses around the country and listening to world-renowned lecturers discuss the most up-to-date treatment philosophies through my professional affiliations:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists
- Maryland State Society of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
Smiling is a big part of my life!
When I’m away from the practice, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife Melissa and I met in high school and were married in 2003. Melissa is a pediatric hygienist and she really enjoys her job working with children. We have two sons, Grant and Chad, and we are also very proud parents of our cat, Roxy!
In addition to spending time with family, I love being outdoors and on the water, watching sports, cheering on my favorite teams, and playing golf! There isn’t a sport that I don’t enjoy! My favorite teams are the Washington Football Team, Baltimore Ravens, and Baltimore Orioles!
One of the goals of our practice is to support our local community. I am involved in coaching soccer, serve on church committees, and am the co-founder of the Talbot Kickball League, an adult coed kickball league designed to bring exercise and social interactions to adults of all ages.
